May 24, 2007 Community Choruses Plus Dinner Carrie Lanyon, Staff On Sunday, May 27th, Berkeley's La Pena Community Chorus will sing songs of peace and justice from Latin America, accompanied by ethnic instruments. Emandal Chorale of Willits and Inland Valley Women's Chorus will also perform. Before the 7pm concert, there will be a gourmet Mexican dinner at 6pm. This exciting event will be at the Willits Grange. Concert is $8; dinner and concert are $20. Tickets at Leaves of Grass Bookstore in Willits, or call 459-9347 for information. May 18, 2007 Noyo Food Forest Plant Sale Carrie Lanyon, Staff Come support the Food Forest and bring home plants for your summer garden! On Saturday, May 26th the Noyo Food Forest will hold the First Annual Plant Sale at the Learning Garden at Fort Bragg High School located at 300 Dana St. The sale will be from 11-4pm and will feature succulents, vegetable and herb starts, and other ornamentals grown by staff, students and volunteers and donated by community members. May 9, 2007 Memorial Weekend Quilt Show Carrie Lanyon, Staff The Ocean Wave Quilters and Soroptimist International of Fort Bragg invite you to their 12th Annual Memorial Weekend Quilt Show. It all starts on Friday evening, May 25th, at 7:00 pm at Town Hall on Main and Laurel in Fort Bragg, and at the Recreation Center on Laurel at Franklin with a "Meet the Quilters" Preview Party, including refreshments and foods donated by local wineries and restaurants. There is a beautiful Opportunity Quilt to win, demonstrations, vendors, challenge quilts and over 100 colorful quilts to see and enjoy made by full-time and part-time locals. The price is $10 inclusive for three days or $5 for Saturday, and/or Sunday from 10 to 5 pm. Free admission for children 11 and under. So bring the whole family to stroll around downtown Fort Bragg on the Quilt Walk, then come and see the newest creations at the Quilt Show! You can also take the Quilt Walk for the entire month of May. If you can’t come to the Quilt Show, you can still see many beautiful quilts and visit our wonderful local businesses. For more information, call Ada at 961-1746 or go to www.soroptimistfortbraggca.org May 1, 2007 Kids Fly at Little River Airport Carrie Lanyon, Staff A group of local volunteer pilots are offering the Young Eagles Program at Little River Airport on Saturday May 5 starting at 9:00AM. This program is open to youth ages 8 – 17 and requires a parental or guardian signed consent form. We will have those at the airport or you can email me (redandm@mcn.org) and I can send one to you (somehow!) I’m sure. We have provided this program for many years and flown hundreds of local kids. We fly twice a year here, weather permitting. We also provide several information stations on aspects of aviation, navigation, and places to learn more about flying. This is part of an international program sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association. The website for Young Eagles is www.youngeagles.org Please help us spread the word. The Albion- Little River Fire Dept Flea Market and Crafts Faire is the same day, starting at 8:30AM, so you can keep the whole family busy at Little River Airport that day. |
