Historian Ron Cannon will be the guest speaker at The Mendocino Coast
Genealogical Society program "Locating Records of your Civil War
Ancestors" Tuesday April 15 at 1:30pm at the Community Room of the Fort
Bragg Public Library. Cannon has done extensive work documenting local Civil
War ancestry. All are welcome to attend.

Brothers and Sisters 2008 "Bowl For Kids' Sake" is just around the
corner. You can be a team captain or sponsor a child to bowl. The dates are
Saturday April 19 in Ukiah and Saturday May 17 in Fort Bragg.
There will be a grand prize for the person earning the most pledges, gift
certificates for prepaid pledge amounts and many other give-away prizes. It's
simple to make a difference in the life of a child in your community and join

the Chinese New Year Children's Parade, Friday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m., starts at
corner of Ukiah and Lansing streets, Mendocino The bright red and green Temple of Kwan Tai stands out like a beacon
among the pale-colored buildings of Mendocino and it is a reminder of the
large ethnic community of Chinese who once lived in the village. Honoring the
contributions of these people, the town celebrates with a parade and an
evening of oriental delacies for the Year of The Rat. See you there!

Soroptomist
International of Fort Bragg is seeking applicants for the Youth Music Award
and the Youth Art Award. Each award is a $400 grant being offered to a female
student enrolled in either Dana Gray Elementary School,
Mendocino Grammar
School, Fort Bragg or Mendocino
Middle schools, ages 9
to 12, who is interested in pursuing private study in music, voice or
non-performing art. Financial need is a strong criteria. Anyone interested
can obtain from the office of their school. Deadline is Feb 15, 2008. For
